The general manager of the Peruvian company Agromar Industrial, Fabian Hidalgo, stated that the company had decided to bet on the diversification of its portfolio of products destined for export by entering the avocado market and, soon, the blueberry market.
He said, the company has begun to export frozen and mashed avocado to countries in Europe, such as Belgium and Austria, as well as to the United States and Canada. He also said that they would start marketing frozen blueberries to European countries this month.
In the medium term, they also plan to incorporate berries and pomegranates. However, this will depend on market behavior.
According to Hidalgo, between 2020 and 2021 they will reach the markets of Korea, Brazil, and Israel with their passion fruit pulp, mango pulp, and lemon juice.
One of the reasons that the agribusiness company can achieve its plans is that this year they have added 400 hectares of land, added to nearly 1,000 hectares they already have, between their own land and through associates. In addition, at the end of this year, their frozen and bottling plant in Pachacamac, which will serve the north and the small south, will start operations.
This year the company expects to increase its sales by 20% over 2018, even though they didn't manage to grow in the first half of the year due to the decrease in temperature, which decreased production.
