From January to August this year, the volume of export sales of avocados and grapes of Peru exceeded $ 1 billion. In particular, the supply of avocados increased by 7% to 323 thousand tons in physical terms or $ 715 million in cash.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture of Peru, compared with last year's sales for the same period, exports grew by $ 47 million.
Main importers of avocados in August were the US, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, China, Chile, Japan, Hong Kong and Russia. In total, these countries imported 46,000 tons of avocados worth $ 116.8 million tons.
At the same time, the volume of export of fresh grapes in the first eight months amounted to 168,9 00 tons and $ 360 million in FOB prices. In August, 90% of the fruit was purchased by the United States, Hong Kong, China, Mexico, Spain, Russia, Canada, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Peru’s exporters shipped 684 tons of grapes worth $ 1.3 million to these markets. Compared to last year, fresh fruit exports grew 18% to $ 55 million.
