During the fourth edition of Dorì Day held in Desenzano del Garda on 12th September, Consorzio Dorì Europe presented its new figures concerning Australia: 500 hectares cultivated so far with another 150 to be set up in 2020.
President Giampaolo Dal Pane (Summerfruit) together with other members Granfrutta Zani, Kiwi Uno, F.lli Clementi, Frutta C2, D&D Frutta, Minguzzi, O.P. Monte, Anecoop, Kiwicoop, Sapa, Primland, Copefrut, Garces Frut, Lafrut, Propal, Summerkiwi France and Los Andes Fruit hosted the event. Delegations from Chile, Spain, France and New Zealand, among others, attended the event.

"I have seen the orchards and was impressed. Next year, we will start growing Dorì kiwifruits in Australia," said James Crieg, an Australian producer together with Robbie Kandel.

Dal Pane explains that "quarantine" tests have been underway for the past two years. "Afterwards, we can start with the real cultivation. There are currently 500 hectares of Dorì kiwifruits and we will add another 150 next year. In Italy, the 2019 production is expected to reach 3400 tons."

The Spaniards from Anecoop stressed the fruits' good grades and dry matter content. "The golden kiwi market is growing all over the world and demand is lively for Dorì. We need to increase its production while maintaining quality high, in line with the leading global competitors."
