First Brazilian melons available in the Netherlands

On Monday, 9 September, Staay Food Group, once again, received the first overseas melons. "The top predictions have not let us down. The melons have excellent quality and taste. There will soon be sufficient supplies of Cantaloupe, Galia, YHD, and seedless watermelons available. These products will be arriving weekly," says a spokesperson for this Dutch produce wholesaler.

"Our own, external quality inspectors have given the melons the 'excellence' mark of approval. This is thanks to their nice appearance, good taste, internal quality, and excellent Brix levels."

In 2015, the Staay Food Group's DULCE melons were the first to be given the Rainforest Alliance (RFA) seal of quality. These melons are grown in Costa Rica. "Last year, this was extended to include melons from our Brazilian supplier, Mata Fresca. They are also the first RFA certified melon growers in Brazil," the company representative says.

"This guarantees the sustainable, responsible cultivation of melons. This guarantee counts for the entire Brazilian and Costa Rican import season. We will, of course, again be offering our Nero Premium brand melons. This is in addition to our DULCE house brand."
