Twenty-three kilos of cocaine were found hidden in a box of bananas in a Bellingham Safeway Sunday, according to Bellingham Police Department Lt. Claudia Murphy. Workers were unloading a box of bananas and found it.
According to King County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ryan Abbott, cocaine was also found in a Woodinville Safeway and a Federal Way Safeway. Abbott said 22 kilos were found in Woodinville at the Safeway in the 19100 block of NE Woodinville Duvall Road Sunday afternoon by produce workers.
Abbott wasn't able to say if the three cocaine finds were related and the case is still under investigation. He told komonews.com the cocaine came from a central warehouse for Safeway, but where it originated from is still under investigation.
