China: Price of haricot beans rises in comparison with last year

The haricots currently on the market mainly come from Zhangjiakou and Chengde in Hebei. A smaller supply volume comes from Langfang in Hebei and Wuqing in Tianjin. The overall surface area devoted to the plantation of beans in cooler production areas expanded this summer. The production volume is therefore larger than last year. In addition, the weather conditions have been better than last year, which means that the price of beans significantly dropped in comparison with the same period in the previous year.

Now that the weather has changed and rainfall is more frequent, the price of beans is growing stronger. The price of haricots also shows an upward trend. The weather in north China in August generally sees more rainfall. When the autumn starts and the temperature falls, the price of haricots usually rises.

The beans from Weichang in Chengde already entered the market. Their supply could last until early September. The autumn beans from Shanxi will enter the market 20 days after bean supply from Weichang ends. The beans from Tianjin, Qinhuangdao and Baoding in Hebei, and Heze in Shandong will then also gradually enter the market.
