According to data provided by Statistics Denmark, sales of organic vegetables and fruit have more than tripled in Denmark from 2012 to 2018.
In 2012 sales reached 1.3 billion Danish crowns, around 169 million euros at the exchange rate, which in 2018 have become a value for the sale of organic vegetables and fruit of 4.3 billion Danish crowns, around 560 million euros.
The basis for this growth is consumer confidence that pesticides are not used for cultivation.
Total sales of organic food products have also grown, increasing by 14% between 2017 and 2018, reaching a value of 12.9 billion Danish crowns. These data consolidate Denmark as the country with the highest proportion of organic food sales in the world.
