Analysis of Chinese market for imported oranges

The imported oranges currently on the Chinese market mainly come from Australia, South Africa, and Peru, with a small additional supply volume from Egypt. The sales volume of Peruvian oranges is relatively large. Oranges from Peru are available between the middle of June and the end of August. The peak season is in July. The season proceeds in much the same pace as last year. Oranges from Peru arrive in China when domestic production is slow. Furthermore, the Peruvian oranges are juicy, their peel is thin, their quality is great, and they are fresh. This makes Peruvian oranges quite popular. The sales volume and the price of Peruvian oranges has been quite stable in recent years. Their entry into the Chinese market has been smooth.

The first half of this season has not been great for South African oranges because Egyptian oranges were still supplied in large volumes. The presence of Egyptian oranges had a direct impact on the sales volume and the price of South African oranges. Now, however, the Egyptian orange season has come to an end. The price and sales volume of South African oranges gradually recovers. The price may increase even further during Mid-Autumn Festival [13 September, 2019]. Australian oranges are doing alright because they are quite popular with Chinese consumers. However, the market conditions are not as great as in recent years. The main reason for this development is the competition with Egyptian oranges and South African oranges.

In addition to Western products, Chen's Sun also sells Southeast Asian fruits and they sell well. The company sells several containers of durian every day. Demand for the durian under their own brand "Three Flowers" in particular always exceeds supply. The daily sales volumes of longan, mangosteen, and dragon fruit are also satisfactory.

Chen's Sun will be present at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong this year. All visitors are welcome at their stand, U42 in Hall 5. The company representatives are happy to discuss the possibilities of future cooperation with interested parties.
