Herminio Íñiguez, president of the Association of Agricultural Producers and Ranchers of Villanueva de la Serena (AGRYGA) and fruit grower, has recently shared his opinion about Extremadura's industrial tomato and stone fruit campaigns in a radio interview.
According to Íñiguez, this year's tomato campaign has been marked by the lack of rainfall; however, the producer said that "this year's productions are expected to be normal, maybe even good, both in terms of volume and quality."
Regarding the fruit campaign in the region, in his opinion, "it is being a real disaster," even though the prospects at the beginning of the season had actually been good.
The president of AGRYGA highlighted that the first black and yellow plums "have been left on the trees, since the market has not wanted them."
He also said that "the prices of very traditional varieties that are normally in demand have been ruinous, as well as in a downward trend."
