Customer at Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market can now order their fresh produce online, which would be delivered to their door. The famous 19th century marketplace is taking the opportunity to bring itself into the digital age which they say will better serve its digitally-focused consumers.
online ordering is made possible through a new partnership with Melbourne’s online shopping and delivery service, YourGrocer. The grocery start-up is even offering same day delivery on orders placed before 11am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. A number of greengrocers, butchers, fishmongers and delicatessens from the Queen Victoria Market have teamed up with YourGrocer to offer their produce online, with a further 25 traders to come online over the coming months.
“This is a great example of how the Queen Victoria Market is moving with the times and adapting to meet the changing needs of customers and traders,” Queen Victoria Market CEO Stan Liacos said on Monday. “The new online service will bring the Market’s amazing fresh produce to those who are time poor and may not be able to visit the Market regularly, or at all, to buy groceries, but who still want to enjoy what Victoria’s favourite market has to offer.”
Morgan Ranieri co-founder and CEO of YourGrocer said that the start-up is passionate about supporting other local independent businesses. “This partnership will give our customers across Melbourne an opportunity to buy more of the fresh, quality ingredients Queen Vic Market is renowned for and provide Vic Market traders with access to a whole new customer base.”
