"The trade in domestic grapes is in full swing in China. The dry weather encouraged an increase of the grape production volume, however, the quality of the grapes is not all the same. The overall price of grapes increased this year, but the price differences between the widely distributed grape production areas in China are great because product quality varies. The cheaper grapes are around 15 yuan [2.12 USD] per 0.5 kg, but the expensive grapes can cost around 100 yuan [14.16 USD] per 0.5 kg." This is according to Manager Hao of Qinqin Craft Products.
"The two main varieties that we grow and sell are Sunshine Rose and Summer Black. The Sunshine Rose is particularly popular with customers because of the fragrant and sweet flavor, as well as the ability to endure storage and transport quite well. Market demand for Sunshine Rose continues to grow stronger.
The market price is currently around 50-60 yuan [7.08-8.50 USD] per 0.5 kg. In recent years we mainly sold our grapes in large volumes in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. This year we expanded to online sales. Customers in first-, second-, and third-tier cities can all enjoy our fruits. We have five warehouses throughout China. These warehouses supply grapes for online and offline retail."
When asked about consumer behavior, Manager Hao stated, "customers attach value to green and organic products, but in many cases the difference between green organic fruit and other fruits is not clear from packaging, appearance, or flavor. At the same time, customers have higher requirements for the product quality of fruit. Customers lean towards more fragrant and sweet, crisp, and juicy fruit varieties."
"Our plantations are located in Honghe, Yunnan. We have an orchard that covers 100 hectares. We are lucky to enjoy the superior natural environment of Honghe, which is perfect for the production of Sunshine Rose grapes. The supply period of grapes from Yunnan is relatively long. The supply period begins every year in April and continues until December. The grapes go into refrigerated storage immediately after being harvested. Furthermore, the grapes are delivered by refrigerated distribution. In this way we can guarantee product quality. Very few companies in this industry can guarantee refrigerated distribution for every step along the way. This is one of our advantages.
