The nutritional value of fruit is one of the important factors that consumers consider when they purchase fruit. Fruits with a high nutritional value are increasingly popular with consumers as a result of the growing importance of healthy food. Take the plum, for example, market demand for this fruit grows every year. This is not just the case for domestic plums, but plums imported from Chile also sell well in the Chinese market.
Ms. Yan Yuping, the Marketing Manager at So Orange, shared her view on the conditions of the domestic plum market in China this year. "The domestic plums are seasonal fruits. The peak period of Chinese plums is in July when the flavor is at its best. This year the plums began to enter the market in late June. We expect the production season to last until early August. The plums are a bit more expensive this year in comparison with last year, but we try to give our customers the best possible quality for the price they pay. The flavor of Wushan plums is exceptionally good this year. Top-quality plums always sell and market competition is fierce. The number of orders through our JD-shop grows every day."
So Orange has made a name in the Chinese market with its juicy oranges, but in the off-season, So Orange also supplies the Chinese market with other top-quality fruits. So Orange produces plums in Wushan, Chongqing, under the brand name "Little Crisp Wu". The plums under this brand name do very well in the Chinese market. The unique packaging design also draws the attention of customers. "Wushan plums are sold as far as Jiangnan Fruit Market in Guangzhou. The "Little Crisp Wu" is sold in exquisite packaging with delicate, carefully selected plums. The plums have received great feedback from the wholesale market. We hope to continue in this direction. At the same time, online customers also express great interest in our plums. Children in particular are attracted to the exquisite packaging and beautiful appearance of the plums."
"The market demand for our exquisitely packaged, premium plums is exceptionally large this year and our supply is therefore unable to meet demand. We temporarily halted deliveries. So Orange produces the Xiantao crisp plum in Chongqing. This is a plum variety that So Orange cultivated in an experimental orchard. We sell this plum online as well."
The experimental orchard for the Xiantao crisp plum has been developed by Ms. Peng Yang and members of the Village Committee. Peng Yang, who is a member of the Village Committee, one of the developers of the Xiantao crisp plum, and founder of the So Orange brand, stated: "I am overjoyed when I see the metamorphosis of Wuniu Village in Chongqing."
So Orange relies on abundant experience with a leading brand in the fruit market as well as their concept of agricultural innovation at the level of plantations to give a whole new "life" to the Xiantao crisp plum. The overall surface devoted to Xiantao crisp plum plantation already exceeds 267 hectares. Wuniu Village alone already accounts for 167 hectares. The formerly desolated mountain sides have turned to "gold".
