After the unusually stable price situation in recent weeks, there were price adjustments on the Austrian potato market at the end of the month. The more favorable harvest conditions caused deliveries to increase slightly. At present, early and final varieties are being marketed, with the harvesting of the first storage locations also being imminent.
On the sales side, the shops run evenly on a calm summer level. Overall, supply and sales mesh together well. Due to the wetter conditions, there are currently only a few problems with pest or disease infestation. The prices in Lower Austria and Burgenland at the beginning of the week were usually at around €32,- and up to €37,- for low-starch potatoes. In Upper Austria €37,- per 100 kg is being paid for new potatoes.
Change from winter to summer onions approaching
The change from winter to summer onion is approaching on the Austrian onion market. At present, only winter onions are on offer. Exports are limited because their own production is available in the destination countries. Producer prices fell slightly. At the beginning of the week, depending on the quality, between 25, - and 30, - € / 100 kg were paid. However, the summer onion harvest in mid-August is expected to result in significant yield losses and a very limited availability of large-sized goods.
Quiet summer carrot market
There has been no change in the marketing of carrots in Lower Austria. The shops are quiet in the summer. The available supply meets the domestic demand easily. Prices remained unchanged from the week before. Marketing of carrots in Lower Austria is running smoothly. The domestic offer matches the quiet domestic demand.
