At Giovanni Bellassai Srl, a company located in Mazzarrone (CT), a new brand is introduced every time a new member of family joins the business - the time has come to welcome Carla.
"The packaging and brand have been studied to promote Sicily. With the help of Ghelfi, who developed the graphic design, Carla will have a great impact. The new brand does not focus on a variety in particular, as its purpose follows the corporate philosophy: promote grapes and their Sicilian origin," explains Lorenzo Bellassai (in the photo).
The new brand will be available in Italy and abroad in August.
As regards the current grape season, Lorenzo stresses that the lower yields and an 8-10 day delay at the start of the season have led to positive results on a commercial level. "Quotations were higher by 20%, which covered the production gap."
The return of the warm weather coincided with the blossoming of Italia and Red Globe grapes. "Italia grapes (in the photo below) have just started ripening and harvesting will start in early August/early September. The dry weather is helping us and our bunches are doing well."
The Victoria, Black Magic, Red Magic and Palier are currently available. "In addition, we are getting ready with the first Red Globe early grapes in polytunnels The first bunches of Italia grapes will be ready in late August and they should do great with 14° Brix."
As for the foreign market, seeded grapes are sent to Holland, Germany and France. "We sell a little less, but prices are satisfactory."
On a domestic level, this year Bellassai has become an official supplier of MD Italia.
