Mission Produce introduces size interchangeability chart

Mission Produce, Inc. has unveiled a tool that breaks down avocado yield by size and preparation. The company says that this chart, known as Size Interchangeability, is an expansion of Mission Produce’s Foodservice AvocaDOs and DON’Ts guide and part of the company’s efforts to help its foodservice partners manage their avocado category.

“Because fruit sizing varies throughout the year, we created a solution on how to order and prepare avocados based on our customers’ needs,” said Foodservice Sales Manager Bryan Garibay. “By using the Size Interchangeability chart in conjunction with utilizing what the trees are producing, our customers will mitigate potential supply challenges while saving money on food cost.” According to the company, the Size Interchangeability chart allows Mission Produce’s partners to predict the yield for different avocado sizes, enabling greater flexibility based on inventory and tree production.

Mission Produce also says the chart communicates avocado measurements in a visually-pleasing way with the intent that foodservice operators can switch fruit sizes with ease. “As avocados appear on more menus, we wanted to provide our foodservice customers with an additional tool to serve the finest avocados,” said Director of Marketing Denise Junqueiro.

The Size Interchangeability chart is now available in the form of a backroom poster as well as inside the latest version of the AvocaDOs and DON’Ts for Foodservice.
