A first batch of Moldovan apricots and cherries, delivered by Fani SRL and Farm Prod SRL, arrived in Germany on July 15. The fruit was imported by OGA / OGV NORDBADEN EG -BRUCHSAL, an organization specializing in the acquisition, processing and marketing of fresh fruit and vegetables with an annual turnover of more than € 60 million, 20 of which are made with the trade of plums and cherries.
Asked by Agrobiznes, Iurie Fala, executive director of the Moldova Fruct Association, said that a whole year of talks with the German co-operative was necessary in order to make these exports possible.
"Germany is an important market for Moldovan producers, so we focused on identifying a group that would be interested in importing local fruits. After a period of talks, representatives of the OGA / OGV NORDBADEN EG -BRUCHSAL Cooperative came to Moldova and visited several members of the Moldova Fruct Association, where they saw the products, the storage conditions, the packaging, the assortment, etc. At the same time, the quality requirements and parameters were also discussed. As a result, on July 15, the first batch of Moldovan cherries and apricots arrived in Germany. The co-operative told us that our fruits are very good. In total, we shipped 6 tons of cherries and 2.5 tons of apricots."
