Mexico's government blames speculators for the rising price of avocado

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader), Victor Villalobos, has claimed that the increase in the price of avocados is due to speculators.

The Federal Consumer Attorney (Profeco) has reported that the price of avocados has increased by 10 pesos per kilo over the past week, as it went from 75 to 85 pesos in the Central Market of Mexico City.

Profeco also indicated that there was an increase in the price of other vegetables, such as tomatoes and onions.
