Spain: Storms affect the pears of Jumilla DO

The latest storms recorded in Jumilla, Murcia, have mainly affected the production of pears. However, according to Pedro Garcia, president of COAG Jumilla, and Francisco Fernandez, technical director of the Jumilla Pear Denomination of Origin, the damage "has not been significant" and "in no case insurance will take care of the losses.

According to Fernandez, the wind that has accompanied the thunderstorm "has affected some pear plots and damage to them is between 5% and 15%. As for the areas, he said that some of the most affected have been "the Cañada del Judío and Alberciales", but at the same time indicated that "in the same areas there are farmers who have no damage.
