Organic mangoes with laser engraving instead of stickers

From now on, organic mangos will be labeled with the Eurospar and Interspar logos through laser engraving instead of stickers. This saves tons of coated stickers every year. Two years ago, Spar was pleased by the test results of the first lasered organic avocados. But problems with the peels and a not yet fully developed technology in the end prevented laser branding from becoming mainstay.

After intensive development, the first organic mangos with laser logos are now being produced, to be offered in all Eurospar and Interspar stores in Austria. Partner Frutura in Styria has invested heavily in the laser packaging reduction system.

Saving on plastic together
Spar Chairman of the Board Gerhard Drexel is delighted with the renewed initiative he calls 'Saving on plastic together'. "With the laser logo on mangoes we can 100% guarantee the separation of organic and conventional fruits, even without stickers. We are already working on the labelling of other fruits like pomegranates, kiwis, avocados or sweet potatoes through laser engraving. This saves thousands of stickers and pieces of film every day, which before were necessary to make a distinction between the two products. "The goal of Spar is to offer the entire Spar Natur* pure organic fruit and vegetables range unpackaged or sustainably packaged.
