At the Shanghai Asia Fresh Expo a lot of different companies participated this year. Most of the companies were domestic, but there were also some companies present from abroad. One of these companies was Thai Fresh Nature Food Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and exporter of Thai coconuts. “Our company is based in Thailand and we export our coconuts to clients worldwide. For now we are supplying the Chinese market, which we supply 6 months a year. We started in April and May, but then the export volume was still a bit low, now the volumes have increased. The demand for coconuts in China is very good, especially in the summer the demand for coconuts is increasing. During the winter time, we do not supply the Chinese market. There is still some demand, but not as much as in the summer.”
This year Thai Fresh Nature Food Co., Ltd. will also establish a new factory plant in the South of Thailand. “For now we have a factory in the central part of Thailand, in Samut Sakhon with a size of 3200 square meters. With the new plant of about 2000 square meters, we hope to extend our supply period and also increase our volume output. Currently, we export our products to the wholesale markets in Shanghai and Guangzhou. It is hard to say a price, since that is hugely dependent on the available supply. So the price fluctuates every week. There is also a supply from Vietnam and Malaysian coconuts in the Chinese market, but those cannot compete with the sweet taste and smell of the Thai coconut. In the future, we hope to extend our market reach and also open some new markets in Dubai or countries in South East Asia.”
In order to let the consumers eat the coconut easier, Thai Fresh Nature Food Co., Ltd. designed a small pictogram on the packaging, with an explanation on how to open the coconut. “As you can see on the pictogram, they can make four small cuts at the top of the coconut and then it will open very easily. The coconut is already pre-cut, so it just needs some small pressure to open it. We hope to let more people taste the delicious coconut milk and coconut flesh.”
