What he was hearing was impressive.
“The word of mouth from industry friends, colleagues and the general buzz around the Organic Produce Summit was amazing,” says Ben Antongiovanni of Pure Palm Produce based in Bakersfield, Ca. “After the first year, we knew we wanted to be part of OPS so shortly after the first show, we joined the waitlist to exhibit. Finally our number was called for the 2019 show and we jumped on our exhibit space.”
Antongiovanni adds that with smaller regional shows, there’s a good showing from regional retailers. “OPS seems different in that you get the small, intimate feel of a regional show but retailers from across the country attend in good numbers,” he says.
Increase in date demand
In booth 706, Pure Palm will have its large organic Medjool Dates on display. “Dates have been growing rapidly in the last five years and the organic market is a strong driver for growth,” says Antongiovanni. “Our strong organic supply and sales make this a must-attend show.”
With that kind of market for dates, Antongiovanni also notes that the supplies of dates are getting tight. “New crop harvest is just around the corner in early September,” he says. “We are looking very good right now and should have a seamless transition to new crop.”
Back at the show, Antongiovanni notes Pure Palm looks forward to seeing its existing customer base at the show as well as meet new ones that they’ve been trying to connect with. “The quality of retailers attending the show is phenomenal for the size of the show,” he says. “It seem like it will have a tremendous return on investment. The networking opportunities, educational sessions and show floor should give us lots of face time with many current and prospective customers.”
