Chinese broccoli suffers from low prices

The broccoli market is currently saturated, mainly due to the unusual temperatures in north and south China this year. This has caused broccoli from major producing areas including Shandong, Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, Gansu, Lanzhou, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Xi'an, and Shaanxi to become available at the same time. Broccoli from Zhangbei will also soon hit the market.

In terms of prices, lower quality products cost only 30-40 yuan/box (18 kg), while high-quality Lanzhou broccoli fetches 70-80 yuan/box (20 kg). Last year, prices during the same period were at 3.3-5.0 yuan/kg, while currently they are at 2.2-3.3 yuan/kg. It can be seen here that the lowest price last year is in fact the highest price this year, and that the broccoli prices have dropped significantly from last year.
