Peru's Foreign Trade Company, Comex Peru, reported that a total of 33,757 tons of products had been exported by air from Callao in the first quarter of the year, i.e. 11.3% less than the volume dispatched in the same period of 2018.
Between January and April, the asparagus (fresh or frozen) was the main product exported by air from Callao with 15,207 tons shipped, i.e. 11.5% less than in the same period of 2018. Shipments of this product account for 45% of the total exported through this route.
They are followed by mangoes and mangosteens (fresh or dried) exports, which in this period of 2019 amounted to 9,634 tons, i.e. 8.1% less than in the period of January-April of the previous year.
Other fruits or fresh fruits (pomegranates) totaled 413 tons, registering a reduction of 26.1%. It was followed by ginger (without being crushed or pulverized), with volumes of 127 tons (+1,584%), among others.
In April 2019, 7,589 tons of products were exported by air from Callao, i.e. 20% less than in the same month of the previous year.
The products that stand out are fresh or refrigerated asparagus with 3,537 tons (-13.5%) and fresh and dried mangoes and mangosteens with shipments of 1,566 tons (-41.7%).
