New Hoogsteder site: the inauguration reflected the company’s ambitions

Last Saturday afternoon, Hoogsteder inaugurated its new site during a “Grand Opening” in Bleiswijk. More than 500 employees came to visit the premises, enjoy the party organized in the warehouses and to have a good time with their family. The event was an opportunity for Hoogsteder to present its new site, constructed in just a few months, but also to organize an exceptional party.

A modern high-tech site
With a surface area of 110,169 square feet, the company wished to concentrate its activity by gathering all its branches within a common space, but also to enlarge its site, modernize its facilities and position itself as a responsible actor in terms of sustainable development. As of Monday, July 1st, Hoogsteder, Blue Sky Cargo, E. van den Berg, Greenery Produce Overseas and Greenery Italia will work together at Prismalaan West 43 – 2665 PC Bleiswijk. The fruits and vegetables will now transit through 23 docks and will be stored in 8 cold chambers, which can hold a total of 710 pallets. Two Hoogsteder trucks will now travel the European roads.

The company also put in place an advanced system to track with precision the evolution of the products’ life. As an international operator, Hoogsteder innovated by creating a control chamber for the Japanese exports which are highly regulated. The fruits and vegetables will then be thoroughly inspected to check, among others, for pests such as the European fly. In another attempt to modernize the site and to gain even more efficiency, there is now a secure space dedicated to air shipping.

CSR at the heart of the new site
Hoogsteder has done its best to pamper its fruits and vegetables, but the company also put effort into creating a space which favors the well-being of its employees and partners. A new cafeteria, ergonomic desks, a game room, showers for the drivers, a large open space for up to 50 employees, isolated spaces for concentration, bright warehouses, and even a prayer room. Hoogsteder has left nothing to chance in order to promote the warmth and well-being of its collaborators at work.

Eco-responsibility also occupies an important place in the construction of the new site. With its solar panels on the roofs, a geothermal system and LED artificial lighting, the facilities are 100% self-sufficient in energy.

A grandiose and family-friendly event
Hoogsteder wanted its “Grand Opening” to be a warm event for young and old. For the occasion, the company invited the famous Emiel and Rob, two Dutch illusionists to entertain the guests with their magic tricks and their energy. Around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Bas Feijtel, Board Chairman at The Greenery, and Frans Scholts, Director of Hoogsteder, spoke in turn to present the new site, recall the strengths and ambitions of the group and to thank their teams and partners.

The guests then enjoyed the party, in this huge space arranged with care for the occasion. They were able to enjoy quality snacks offered by various foodtrucks, but also to taste the fresh products of the producers and partners of the company in the form of beautiful and delicious bites. The sixty children accompanying their parents could also enjoy a play area set up in one of the refrigerated rooms.

A particularly successful inauguration, which foreshadows successful upcoming years for Hoogsteder.
