The OMIP experience in Mexico

Pitting machines for avocado and stone fruit: the Latin American market responds well

The feedback from the just-ended Expo Pack exhibition in Guadalajara, Mexico, has been very positive as there has been a good interest in the avocado and fruit processing lines in general.

"The cost-benefit advantages of our lines for pitting, peeling and extracting pulp from fruit have been appreciated. We hope to convert the potential contacts made during this fair into contracts in the short term," says Francesco Pannullo, one of the directors of OMIP, Italian company engaged in the design and construction of machinery for fruit and vegetables.

"The main purpose of our presence in Mexico, with our stand, was to present and illustrate our solutions, the advantages over the competition, as well as the timely after-sales services we offer."

"Thanks to research and development coupled with continuous innovation - adds Pannullo - we have succeeded in introducing to the world market, the most modern technologies applied in the pitting sector, and thus becoming a reference point for fruit processing. Our goal is to expand our productive horizons and invent machines suitable for transforming other fruit and vegetables which are not currently covered by our machines."

"We have several clients in Mexico, especially with avocado lines. Furthermore, in Latin American countries we have a consolidated presence, especially for processing fruits such as peaches, apricots, plums and similar. In numerical terms, an important destination for us is Argentina. Our other markets in that area are Peru, Chile and Brazil," concludes Pannullo.

The American market represents 40% of OMIP's total exports. Moreover, in its fifty years of history, the Italian company has distinguished itself and has gained a presence in the reference markets throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania (especially Australia).
