“Generally speaking, May to September is the peak marketing season for watermelons. During this period, watermelons from inland China are marketed in large quantities. The prices during this period are also the lowest of the whole year, currently at 6-8 yuan per kilo; in July to August, the unit price per kilo is expected to drop to about 2 yuan,” said Lanzhe Ma, Manager at Hainan Runda Modern Agriculture.
