Agristo founder Luc Raes passed away

During an accident with horse drawn carriages in the Ardennes on Wednesday evening, Agristo founder Luc Raes sadly passed away. Raes founded the potato processing company in the mid eighties with Antoon Wallays.

Despite Luc being an experienced carriage driver, things went wrong during a trip with three carriages. One of the carriages went up a slope into a stack of wood. A collision in which one of the vehicles tipped ensued. Raes was crushed in the chest by the carriage and died on the spot.

At the end of 2017 Agristo opened a new location in Wielsbeke. Luc was no longer directly involved, but his daughter Hannelore (CEO) and his son Dieter both still work in the company.

Luc Raes was 67 years old.
