Chinese citrus prices may increase this year

It is reported that there are currently small volumes of super early and early satsumas on the market. These satsumas are grown in Longzhou County, Chongzuo City, Guangxi Province. Prices at the start of this season are significantly higher than last year. Satsumas from Hunan, Yunnan and other parts of Guangxi will gradually become available in July.

The main reason for the hike in prices for early satsumas is a severe drop in production. The flowering season of early satsumas was hit by continuous rainy days, making it difficult to keep the blooms and fruits. This has caused production to drop by nearly one-third. In addition, prices of various fruits are rising this year, and satsumas are no exception. It is expected that prices will not “plummet” for a while.
