Concerned about the environment, the family company Grosbusch SARL, a specialist in the import and distribution of fruit and vegetables in Luxembourg and in the Greater Region, is committed to reducing the use of plastic in its packaging as much as possible.
After more than 6 months of work and substantial investment, we have chosen the best solution for optimal protection of fruits and vegetables and minimal use of plastic.
A majority of our organic and conventional products are now packaged in new 100% FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cardboard packaging, i.e. from responsible biodegradable sources, guaranteeing sustainable forest management. In addition, in order to reduce overwrapping and thus limit our impact on the environment, product sales information is printed directly on it, using water-based ink.
This avoids additional labels with excess glue and paper. Only certain products, whose shape and size do not fit 100% cardboard, are now placed in an FSC-certified cardboard bowl and packaged in a fully recyclable plastic film to keep them fresher and more protective.
In parallel, for certain well-defined products, we have launched a new range of biodegradable, 100% compostable wool nets. These new, fully recyclable packaging will allow us to reduce annual plastic consumption by more than 20 tons! In this ecological dynamic, the company is committed to listening to all the innovations and alternatives to plastic that will be proposed in the future.
