The National Telecommunications Research and Training Institute of the National University of Engineering (Inictel-UNI) has developed an electronic system and a mobile application that allow monitoring some physical variables, such as air and soil temperature, soil moisture, and the pH level of the irrigation water, in Hass avocado crops.
This system aims to improve the quality of Hass avocado production in the Peruvian Department of Moquegua.
The mobile application has an algorithm that processes the images of the leaves and can detect the deficiency of iron and magnesium and the presence of the red spider plague in the plantations.
This project has been developed by Inictel with funding from the Ministry of Production through the Reto Bio contest.
In addition to Inictel, the system received the collaboration of the agroindustrial CITE Moquegua, the Technological Institute of Production (ITP); the LABOTEC SAC company, and the Association of Avocado Producers of Moquegua for Exportation (APPALMEX).
This new monitoring system will be officially unveiled on Friday, June 21, at 9:00 a.m. in Room A of the INICTEL-UNI, located at Av. San Luis 1771, San Borja.
