European judge rejects German mileage tax

The mileage tax planned for autumn 2020 for cars in Germany has been declared unlawful by the European Court of Justice. As a result, it appears as if the introduction of the PKW-Maut is off. The biggest obstacle for the judge was that the Maut would mostly affect foreign drivers. German drivers would pay for the Maut at first, but receive the money back via lower taxes at a later date.
