Berry grower teams up with food bank

Grower and marketer of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, Wish Farms, has announced a summer partnership campaign with Feeding America®.

The company said it has worked with Feeding America member food banks in Florida over the years. But this seasonal campaign marks a new opportunity to engage berry consumers nationwide, giving them a chance to directly support the organization’s mission to end hunger.

“Wish Farms has been a tremendous year-round partner to our network of 12 food banks and we are thrilled to be partnering with them for this summer campaign,” said Robin Safley, Executive Director of Feeding Florida, a partner state association of Feeding America. “Our agricultural partners help us make a difference by donating wholesome produce to distribute to the 2.8 million Floridians who need it most.”

Dubbed “Superhero Summer”, for each Instagram engagement on the campaign posts, Wish Farms said it will donate a meal* to families in need. The posts, running from June 12th through August 12th, will feature Graphic Interchange Format (GIFs) of Wish Farms’ growers in various, comedic superhero poses. They also said they recognized their growers with the slogan: “Farmers: Real-Life Superheroes. Saving the World by Feeding the World.”

“As a grower of fresh berries, we feel a sense of responsibility to help families who are struggling with food insecurity,” said Director of Marketing Amber Maloney, “This is an exciting campaign, not only because we are raising awareness of the issue on a national level, but because it allows each person to do some good - they are making a positive impact on their community.”

“One in eight people face hunger in America, including more than 12 million children. Feeding America is thankful to Wish Farms for their commitment to fighting hunger,” said Nancy Curby, senior vice president of corporate partnerships at Feeding America.

*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.
