Zero-residue apricots by Albisole

Albisole, a brand owned by Società Agricola Guidi, is launching zero-residue apricots. The product was developed after years of research and tests and can now be sold in considerable volumes.

"It was not easy but we managed it. This year, we will have consistent quantities available of zero-residue produce. I believe we are the first to provide regular supplies until late September. We overcome operational difficulties and are now placing apricots on the market that also stand out thanks to the packaging," explains co-owner Roberto Guidi.

1.4 kg packet

Albisole apricot orchards cover over 300 hectares in Romagna. Over 150 of them have been covered with anti-hail and anti-insect nets so as to drastically reduce the need for phytosanitary interventions.

Warehouse operations

Anita Rustignoli from the Quality assurance office explains that "we have two distinct areas where we process the zero-residue and integrated productions. Varieties reach high Brix levels, which is essential for a superior organoleptic quality."

The abundant rain in May did not cause any problem to the orchards, as all varieties are medium and late. Harvesting started in early June and will continue throughout September. "Quality is excellent and yields are high, so this year should be a good one."

Over 50% of apricots is commercialized under the Albisole and Rubysole brands (the latter is for red apricots).

The facility was inaugurated two years ago and it was designed as those in the US, i.e. at the center of a production hub. It is in fact located near a 200 hectare orchard.

This means the fruit goes from the tree to the facility in just a few minutes. The cold chain then is uninterrupted until the fruit is purchased by consumers.
