Leon van den Hombergh, Frankort&Koning:

“Even more melons expected during coming Brazilian season”

“During the coming season, we definitely don’t expect lower melon volumes,” says commercial manager Leon van den Hombergh of Frankort&Koning from Venlo, the Netherlands.

“Our partner in Brazil, melon giant Agricola Famosa, announced they’re increasing their volumes by more than 20 per cent for the coming season. The excessive rain from March and April earlier this year will help increase productivity in the coming season,” Leon explains.

“The first preparations have now been made. The season is looking promising, and we expect the first shipments to be loaded in week 34,” Leon concludes. “It will once again be challenging to market these volumes in the European sales channel.”
