Turkey: "80% of Sultaniye grapes are exported, mainly to Russia"

Manisa, a city in southwestern Turkey, grows the Sultaniye variety of table grapes and exports them to Russia, Europe and the Arab countries.

In the Sarigol district, farmers started to work in an area of 11,700 ha. A bunch of grapes is about 25-30 cm. long and it is expected that the quality and productivity will be high thanks to good agricultural practices and the ministry's pest management program.

Mehmet Akar, Sarigol's Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry said: "Grape bunches will bloom soon. In our vineyards, we follow good agricultural practices and apply insecticides in line with our ministry's pest management program. 80% of our grapes are mainly exported to Russia, then to Europe and Arab countries. We are very careful not to have any pesticide remnants on our grapes."
