The Tango Italy consortium has been set up

"Over the past few years, there has been an increased need for businesses to aggregate according to varieties having the same organoleptic qualities, shared growing techniques and following a same zero-residue production specification," explains Francesco Paolo Gallo, president and administrator of Tango Italy.

Tango Italy S.c.ar.l. was set up on June 4th 2019 at Masseria Savoia in Ginosa Marina (Taranto) with the purpose of gathering all Italian producers of the Tango variety, a cultivar known for its ripening window (February-April) and recognized on a global level for its unique characteristics also when it comes to environmental sustainability.

The consortium currently includes 25 businesses located in Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria. In the future, others will join them covering 400 hectares in total.

"Our businesses currently cover 120 hectares, but not all are productive."

"All producers know they are part of an important project unique on the Italian territory. Businesses are proud to be the protagonists of a change in mindset within the citrus fruit sector, which will in turn lead to a more effective approach towards the market and consumers."

Associates work to obtain high-quality productions with a zero residue that combine the concepts of sustainability and domestic production chain. These will be the main principles that will be promoted through the TANGO ITALY brand.

"We are at the service of consumers to make sure they have a 'unique' product in terms of high-quality and sustainability, that is of Italian origin and grown with a careful consideration of the soil and weather conditions of the various territories."

The consortium is already working on the social media pages and website that contain all information necessary. The Tango Italy commercial brand will be presented over the next few weeks.
