This spring, Gold Coast Packing has added whole and halved Brussels sprouts to its line of specialty cut shredded Brussels sprouts to capitalize on what it sees as increased demand for the vegetable.
In response to the increased purchasing of Brussels sprouts for Foodservice applications, the Gold Coast team said it saw an opportunity to capitalize on the trend and offer chefs a more convenient way to prepare the trending dish.
“The product development team observed that customers were purchasing more and more Brussels sprouts,” said Crystal Chavez, marketing coordinator of Gold Coast Packing. “We saw an opportunity to respond to our customers’ needs and better serve them by creating a full lineup of options, including whole, halved and shredded Brussels sprouts to make preparing food as easy as can be.”
The new products launched this spring in anticipation of the upcoming fall and holiday season, which is not only a peak season for Brussels sprouts, but also a busy time for those preparing the food. According to the company, Brussels sprouts are moving to the center of the plate rather than only a complementary side, and restaurants see the value in a pre-cut produce to allow more time in the kitchen.

Launching additional convenience items will help us meet the needs and requests of our customers.”
The Brussels sprouts are offered in whole, halved and shredded Foodservice packs available in a 2x5 or 4x5 pound pack. Gold Coast has plans to expand this product to retail packages as demand for these items increase.
