Hazel Technologies Inc. has announced that Norma Hollnagel has joined the company as Senior Sales Manager.
Hollnagel joins Hazel Tech following 19 years at regional post-harvest provider Ethylene Control, where she most recently served in a Vice President role. Hollnagel will focus on managing Hazel Tech’s customer base and commercial operations in California and other key territories.
Hazel Tech says over 100 packer-shippers have partnered with them as a post-harvest technology provider since the company was founded in 2015. Hazel® is described as a quarter-sized biodegradable and food-safe packaging insert that is placed in the box during packing which extends the shelf life of a variety of fresh produce items.
According to the company, results have been especially strong with stone fruit packer-shippers. The University of California-Davis completed a stone fruit trial with Hazel Tech in 2018, saying grower packers have reported up to 40 percent reduction in quality claims and rejections when using Hazel Tech with peaches, plums, nectarines, and apricots.
