South African based fruit export leader, Delecta Fruit, came under new leadership earlier this month. After 7 years as Managing Director, Stefan du Plessis has handed over the reins to Awie de Jager.
Awie grew up on their family farm close to Hendrina on the Eastern Highveld of South Africa. After completing his studies in 2005, he launched his career in the agribanking sector followed by a couple of years in the United Kingdom within the engineering environment. Upon his return to South Africa, he managed a fruit export company which serviced UK retail with all fruit commodities.
“We look forward to the wealth of knowledge and experience that Awie will add to the Delecta team as he leads us into the next chapter of our company’s success,” says Sir De Villiers Graaff, chairperson of Delecta Fruit’s board of directors.
Whilst maintaining his status as one of the shareholders and directors of Delecta Fruit, Stefan will be focusing on expanding his own family farming operation, Elandsrivier Boerdery.
