ProEx Food exhibits at United Fresh

"We heavily focus on automation"

ProEx Food is a full-service provider of fruit and vegetable processing and packaging lines. The company will be exhibiting at United Fresh Expo in Chicago next week, showcasing their latest technology to visitors. Ross Lund, the CEO of ProEx Food and in charge of North and South America as well as Australia, said more of their customers are attending United Fresh.

"United Fresh attracts a great number of our customers now," he shared. "Each year, we are seeing more of them at the show, and it gives us an opportunity to showcase our newest technologies. This year, we are going to have our corn kernel remover on display at the show."

Automation becoming a bigger focus
As a designer, manufacturer and supplier of food processing and packaging equipment, ProEx Food is at the forefront of many of the latest trends in fresh produce. As companies look to shave costs and increase production, automation is a key element in many industries, with fresh produce no exception.

"This year at United Fresh, we will be heavily focused on automation," Lund said. "With decreasing labor supplies and increasing safety requirements, more companies are looking to automation to help their business meet these challenges. One of our projects right now is focused on robotic automation and looking into how to handle naked fruits and vegetables gently, without damaging them, all the way through the process from picking, washing, sorting and packing. ProEx Food has the solutions available today for customers."

Collaboration with building designers
A second focal point for the company is to encourage greater collaboration between equipment suppliers like ProEx Food and companies that design and build new facilities. Lund says there is a gap in this area and because of this, ProEx Food decided to share a joint booth with Consolidated Construction Co.

"The whole process of building a new facility and installing new equipment hasn't really integrated very well," he observed. "This is why we are having a joint booth with Consolidated Construction to offer United Fresh visitors a one-stop-shop with their new project design. As a team, we will be able to answer any questions they might have. Despite the increased demand in turnkey solutions, there is a big gap here which we are looking to fix."

New berry line available
Some of ProEx Food's biggest categories include sweet corn and green bean processing lines among many other products. However, the company hasn't stopped developing new products and recently introduced two new products - a berry processing line, as well as a peeling line. According to Lund, the berry line is excellent for the fresh and frozen markets from infeed all the way through packaging.

"Our traditional products have included solutions for sweet corn, green beans and other vegetables. We have now introduced a berry line, which will provide our customers excellent automation in the fruit market," he announced. "We are excited to offer a turnkey product which is available now. We are also excited to be presenting at United Fresh and look forward to meeting with all our customers at the show."

ProEx Food will be at Booth #17045.
