Great attendance at Spain's First International Avocado Seminar

370 attendees from 8 countries and more than 160 companies from around the world gathered on Thursday, May 30, in Seville (Spain) to discuss the future of the avocado sector.

Estanislao Martínez, founder and president of AGQ Labs, opened the event with a speech in which he appreciated the great reception and encouraged attendees to participate actively, during, and after the conferences.

The event consisted of 9 presentations which focused on the most important aspects to obtain the highest yield of a crop that, today, is on the rise. The conferences focused on different issues that ranged from the current situation and the evolution of the avocado market, in a presentation by Armando Lopez Orduña, General Director of APEAM, Mexico's association of producers and exporters of avocados, to the treatment of diseases of the avocado crop, by Walter Apaza, principal professor at the Agrarian University of La Molina in Peru and an expert in plant pathology.

The event was held at the Meliá Los Lebreros Hotel in Seville, where attendees enjoyed a lunch of dishes made with avocado.

There were stands of important companies of the sector in the main hall of the event, where they offered their best products and services for the sector.

The day concluded with the presentation of Luis Luchsinger, a doctor and post harvest consultant, about how to treat this delicate fruit so that it arrives in the best conditions, from the field, to consumers.

In short, it was a meeting in which attendees, companies, and speakers were very satisfied and which laid the foundations so that the avocado sector, worldwide, continues growing in a sustainable manner.
