First major export to China

Uzbekistan exports cherries just in time for Tmall 618 shopping holiday

June has arrived, which means that it is almost time for "Tmall 618", the Chinese shopping holiday on June 18th. Traders are urgently preparing their stock for this major shopping holiday. Uzbekistan exported large volumes of cherries to China on specialized "Tmall flights" just in time for the shopping holiday.

Australian cherries and Chilean cherries have not yet entered the market in June. Chinese consumers all buy US cherries around this time of year. However, the price of US cherries is likely to increase this year and Tmall specifically imported cherries from Uzbekistan to satisfy the vast appetite of Chinese consumers for cherries.

The first shipment of JJ-grade, Bull's Eye cherries from Uzbekistan arrived on May 30th. The price is around 50 yuan [7.24 USD] per kg. That is almost 50% cheaper than the average market price of similar-sized cherries.
