BLE market observation potatoes, KW 21/2019:

'Larger supply of locally cultivated early potatoes"

The provision of domestic storage potatoes dropped of further. In some places, there were only some leftover in stock. Since these batches generally generated sufficient sales, merchants did not need to modify their prices. At times, they could even raise them a bit, according to a market observation by the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE).

Large selection of cooked potatoes
The inflow of locally cultivated early potatoes grew. In addition to Annabelles, Berbers from the Palatinate were now also available, which achieved up to €31 per 25-kg bag. At the same time, the availability of Italian and Cypriot imports remained at least as abundant as before, but in many cases increased slightly. As a result, the distributors had to lower prices benefits because of the concentrated supply, especially in the Italian range. But the Cypriot offers were often cheaper.

Although Moroccan batches lost market share, their prices were usually fixed at a constant level, as in the case of isolated deliveries from Spain.
