New Advanced Inspection Systems Product Marketing Manager

Key Technology appoints Karel van Velthoven

Key Technology, a member of the Duravant family of operating companies, announces the promotion of Karel Van Velthoven to Advanced Inspection Systems Product Marketing Manager. Based out of Key’s European Innovation and Solutions Center in Hasselt, Belgium, Van Velthoven is responsible for managing global activities that support the development and sales of Key’s high performance digital sorting and automatic defect removal systems.

“At Key, we’re focused on partnering with customers to produce safe foods more efficiently – digital sorting is at the heart of our strategy. From smarter sensor technology available on our world-class VERYX® sorters to empowering the data revolution with Information Analytics, we’re continually rolling out game-changing innovations,” said Daniel Leighty, Senior Director, Global Sales Operations. “Karel possesses a deep understanding of our solutions and target markets as well as the needs of food processors. He’s ideally suited to reflect the voices of our customers and help us steer future product development.”

Van Velthoven has been with Key for six years and brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing and sales of high-tech equipment. Prior to this promotion, his positions included Customer Engagement Manager and EMEIA Marketing Manager. Previously, he was Marketing Manager at Visys NV, which merged with Key in 2013. Van Velthoven holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and corporate communications from the PXL University in Belgium.

“Sorting technology is rapidly changing. Next-generation sensors, artificial intelligence, improved man-machine interactions – these are just a few of the exciting advancements on our roadmap,” said Van Velthoven. “Our VERYX family of sorters in particular gives us a solid, future-proof platform to build on. I’m excited about our market momentum and the opportunities ahead as we enhance our leadership position and take Key to the next level, adding even greater value to our customers’ operations.”
