In a press release, the FRSEA and the JAs of Brittany point to "unacceptable" price differences. On May 9, "the vine tomatoes were paid €0.45/kg net to the producers," explains Thierry Merret, administrator of the FRSEA. "It is not uncommon to find them on the shelves for more than 2 or 3 euros."
Price and origin surveys carried out in the supermarket by French Vegetable Producers (FNSEA) have highlighted the considerable price differences between domestic and imported products. The trade unions demand that the rules of the game set by the Equalim law be "respected" and that "distribution, especially in the peak production season, be supplied only with French tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries. »
