The second shipment of Rosaria oranges arrived in Shanghai on 17th May. The interest of consumers and of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba for made in Sicily oranges is now confirmed.

Alibaba is in charge of distribution, thanks to the support from the Ministry of Food, Agricultural and Forestry Policy, the Ministry of Tourism and Distretto Agrumi di Sicilia. Rosaria oranges continue to be placed within the premium range.
Expectations for next season
The channel was opened in 2019 after two years of negotiations. Bigger loads will be shipped by brothers Aurelio and Salvatore Pannitteri as of next year. 
"It may have seemed impossible two years ago, but the Chinese market is actually a great opportunity for our oranges. Expectations for 2019/20 are good, as we are looking to increase loads to 1,500 tons. In addition, prices are profitable as those who choose Rosaria oranges recognize their added value."

New investments to prolong the season
"Last season, we planted 50 new hectares and we added another 40 this season reaching 300 hectares in total. In addition, we are working to update varieties and plant medium-late cultivars to make the produce available for longer."
