Wholesaler from Vechta scores with exotic selection

"Dates, herbs and vegetables currently make up our core seasonal assortment"

In the German specialist trade, many companies are oriented towards foreign customer groups and sales markets. Both specialists and full-range providers run seasonal offers and fresh specialties. In Vechta - in the heart of Lower Saxony - is the food wholesaler and retailer Sham GmbH. Mainly Turkish and Arabian customers are served, with a wide range of products, says Mr Umer, buyer and seller of the company.

"Since last November, in addition to our existing range, we have also been offering a complementary selection of fruit and vegetables," he says. "An essential part of our sales are vegetables -like cucumbers and tomatoes- and bundles of parsley. Bananas and lettuce are also sold in relevant quantities."

The Sham GmbH headquarters is located in Vechta.

Spring specialties currently determine what's happening at the company. Dried fruits such as Spanish apricots, but also melons are currently arriving. "We bring in watermelons from Greece and Morocco. Later in the season, we will also include Turkish stone fruit  and melons."

Insight into the seasonal assortment: Greek watermelons and  vegetables are currently being marketed quickly.

Broad range of dates
In addition to the standard assortment, dates from various countries are now being sold for Ramadan. The Sham GmbH offer their customers Israeli, Iranian, Tunisian, Lebanese and Egyptian dried fruits. "Depending on the variety and origin, the kilo prices are usually between €4.00 and 5.00. Dates from Lebanon are selling the best."
