Walnuts from Chile ready for commercialization

The walnuts from Chile that arrived a few days ago at Manuzzi Frutta Secca are of a great quality. "The 2019 harvest has just arrived, kernels have a light color and organoleptic qualities are excellent. We have been working with a trusted supplier, Valvalle, for the past few years and its production for 2019 is expected to reach approximately 2,000 tons, mainly of the Chandler variety (with Howard and Serr in minor quantities)," explains Aurelio Manuzzi.

In 2019, Chile is expected to produce 135 thousand tons against the 129 thousand of 2018. In 4-5 years, the country could reach 200 thousand tons.

"Serr is the variety currently available. Chandler will become available in 15-20 days' time. Little produce has been available on the domestic market over the past few weeks and the arrival of walnuts from Chile has sparked demand. We have receiving requests from wholesale markets for loose produce and from retailers for loose and packaged produce."

The lack of walnuts in this period is rather peculiar, also because there was plenty of American and French produce. Probably sales increased as the price was lower than usual.
