Germany gets involved as well

New membership for European fruit and veg wholesaler, Manifesto

Following a series of meetings between the federations representing the wholesalers of some of the main European countries (Italy, France, Greece and Spain), plus the German organization of the sector, DFHV, decided to support the project of the "Manifesto". This project comprises European fruit and vegetable operators whose objective is to relaunch the world of wholesale markets.

To this respect, the president of DFHV, Dieter Krauss, said: "The whole world of wholesale fruit and vegetables must face important challenges throughout the European Union. While agricultural production is strongly supported by European and national institutions, our sector must undergo a few changes, despite the fundamental role it plays in offering fresh products to society. The centrality of our sector is clearly expressed by the Manifesto and for this reason we have decided to support this project to ensure that EU political actors can understand the fundamental function of the Markets and realize what is needed to ensure an efficient European food system based on healthy and quality products".

The aim of the work-group is to relaunch these realities with all the actors involved, including  the other European countries to better represent this category. The associations will meet on the 5th of June in London during the Freshfel assembly to outline the next steps to be taken.
