Stone fruit campaign starting in Campania

"We are really lucky in Campania, as our stone fruit production was not majorly affected by the weather - it only hailed in a few areas. The summer fruit campaign is starting and it looks promising, although it is around 10 days late compared to last year. We are hoping for real summer to start soon," explains Giuseppe Giaccio from OP Giaccio Frutta.

"Expectations are good as production is abundant and fruit seems to have a good quality. We have already started harvesting the first early varieties and prices are satisfactory."

"Last week, we started harvesting cherries and the season will end in late June. What is more, in order to widen our range of products and meet market demand in May and June, we started growing plums a few years ago, so it looks like a good campaign."

"As regards peaches, we are expecting to start harvesting the early varieties towards the end of the month. We are currently in the thinning phase, which is carried out by hand and is essential to obtain tastier fruits of a larger grade."

"We work to provide consumers with high-quality products and also aim at guaranteeing a fair profit for our producers. We thus hope prices are satisfactory and that our produce is also appreciated on the foreign market."
